Singers from THS are being invited to join singers from TuHS at an event on Monday Night.
Here is the announcement that was sent to me:
“In light of the horrific school shooting tragedies that continue to haunt our nation, it is time to demand change! On Presidents day, February 19th, please join us in a vigil to remember those lives lost, and to make a promise that we as a community will come together to DEMAND and MAKE CHANGES!
The vigil is on the Tualatin High School turf field, rain or shine, at 7pm. Candles are not allowed, but glow sticks, flashlights, and cell phones can be used as we form a heart to show the world hearts are broken each time lives are lost. It must STOP!
This is not a political vigil, BUT it is about (our community, our district) coming together as one to demand changes, support each other, and to make our world safer for our children.
Any and all are invited to come, but please come with an open mind and an open heart. Please spread the word.
We all need to take action to make our voices heard. Our children are watching, and they deserve so much better! “
Please bring glow sticks or flashlights
When: Presidents Day, February 19th
Place: Tualatin High School Turf Field
This event has been approved by the District Admin and the School Board.
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
