Composer Jake Runestad to visit THS!

I am pleased to announce that Jake Runestad, composer of the beloved, The Peace of Wild Things, will be visiting Tigard High School on Wednesday, April 18th during 2nd Period. All Concert Choir members will be participating in a clinic with him as he discussing his composing, and in particular the process of creating The Peace of Wild Things. Jake will also be working on our interpretation of the piece. Super excited for this amazing opportunity!

Spring Things Happening!

Here’s what is up in the world of Tigard Choirs for April and May!

April 4th (Wednesday)
Concert Choir sings Hlolonofatsa for 9th Grade Parent Night in the Gym
Wear Concert Choir Shirts and jeans.
Call time is 6:15 pm for a 6:30 pm performance. Done by 6:40 pm!

April 11th (Wednesday)
Concert Choir competes in the Three Rivers League Choir Festival hosted at THS!
Wear Concert Choir Shirts and Black pants, socks and shoes!
Call Time is 7:30 AM at THS.
Event is over at 3:00 pm.

April 18th (Wednesday)
Choralation sings at Summerfield for Spring Party
Wear formal wear!
7:00 pm call for a 7:30 pm performance. Done by 8:00 pm.

May 5th (Saturday)
Concert Choir sings for the OSAA State Championships at George Fox University Baumann Auditorium.
Time will be announced by OSAA by April 26th.

May 23 (Wednesday)
All Choirs
Night in the City – an evening of Vocal Jazz and Underclassmen Awards
6 pm call for a 7 pm performance

May 24 (Thursday)
All Choirs
Under the Savanna Sky – music from the continent of Africa and Senior Awards
4:30 Banquet in Cafeteria
6 pm call for a 7 pm performance

Concert Choir Retreat this weekend

The Concert Choir of Tigard High School is traveling to Camp Tadmor (43943 McDowell Creek Drive, Lebanon, OR 97355, leaving from school on Friday, March 16 at 2 pm, returning to Tigard HS on Sunday, March 18 at 2 pm.

The choir will be focusing on rehearsing their League competition music and working to build deeper community connections.

Students will be sleeping in cabins that sleep 11 people, with one adult per cabin.

WHAT SHOULD THE STUDENTS BRING:
1. Sleeping Bag/Pillow
2. Towel/Soap/Toiletries/DEODORANT
3. Water Bottle
4. Pencil/Music!!!
5. Comfortable Clothes/Rain Gear in one bag.  No “I’m going to Europe for a month” suitcases!
6. Board Games/Card Games
7. Guitars, ukeleles, etc. 

WHAT NOT TO BRING:
1. Electronics (X-box, etc.)
2. Contraband (drugs, alcohol, etc)

March 22nd Festival Concert

Welcome in springtime with Tigard Choirs at their Festival Choir Concert, Thursday, March 22 at 7:00pm.

Solo and Ensemble Results!

Hello All,

On Saturday, choir members participated at the annual District 14 Solo and Ensemble Contest held this year at Sherwood High School.
Choralation received Superior Scores.
Kaylee Bair placed 2nd in Soprano Division
Linnea Hill placed 1st in Alto Division
McKenna Matheson placed 2nd in Alto Division
Sabastian Alcobendas placed 1st Alternate (2nd place) in Tenor Division
Daniel Hill placed 1st in Baritone Division

 
These 5 soloists will present one of their songs at the March 22nd concert and then compete at State Solo on April 28th!
