All singers are expected to be in the auditorium at 6 pm for warm-up and run through. To get full credit for the concert, all singers are expected to remain for the entire duration of the concert.

I am aware that the final presidential debate is running simultaneously. Our concert date was set before the debate schedule and due to the number of events taking place at the auditorium, we were not able to move our event.

Choir Fees/Travel Forms/Syllabus

$30 Choir Fee, Travel Forms and Class Syllabus for all choirs were due on September 16.

Many students have not filled out forms and paid their fees. Outfits are being purchased, dry cleaned for the October 19th concert. Without your fees being paid, bills to these vendors will go unpaid.

Camerata and Concert Choir will be traveling to Festivals on November 3rd and 8th. No form, no travel!

Choralation starts traveling to gigs on December 6. No form, no travel!

Let’s work together for a great year. Do your part and get forms and fees in right away!

Solo and Ensemble Contest

This Saturday, February 20th at West Linn High School, singers from Tigard High School will join others from the area to compete in OMEA District 14 Solo and Ensemble Contest. Solos are to be memorized. A real (not copied) version of the song must be presented to the adjudicator. After presenting the book of music to the adjudicator, the singer should introduce themselves professionally like this:

Hello, my name is ________________. I am a junior at Tigard High School. I will be singing two selections for you today. The first is _______________ composed by ______________. The second is _____________________ composed by _______________. My accompanist is _____________________.

Then you take a nice even breath, nod to your accompanist to begin and ENJOY! Be sure after both selections are done to bow graciously and acknowledge your accompanist.

Singers should wear Sunday Best.

What’s Next? What’s Possible? – Opening Day!

My good colleague, Dr. Geoffrey Boers from the University of Washington asks these questions of his singers. I do too!

I can’t wait to meet everybody on Wednesday and Thursday! How exciting to open this new chapter! The Leadership Team has been so helpful! The room looks great. I can’t wait to hear each choir sing. Music will be ready! Each choir will sing on Opening Day! And play ice breaker games! And meet new friends!

Can you imagine the joy of hearing your choir singing? It is going to be fantastic!

So what is next? And what is possible? Come Wednesday and Thursday and find out!
