CONCERT CHOIR 2023-2024

Congratulations to all who were selected to be in the Concert Choir for next season, 2023-2024. Please make sure all of the calendar dates are made known to your family this week! All calendar dates are expressed for the entire school year and all families are expected to clear their family calendars of conflicts. If you have questions about calendar, contact me at: rhawthorne@ttsd.k12.or.us.

A reminder to you that all students are expected to use the learning tracks provided throughout the year and all students are expected to adhere to the THS Cell Phone policy. Cell phones are not to be used for personal use the moment you enter the choir room. Engage in the community that is choir and allow outside forces to be ignored as soon as you enter the choir room.

Music to be learned over the summer will be passed out on Wednesday. Make sure you pick it up!

IF YOUR NAME IS NOT ON THIS LIST, YOU ARE SCHEDULED FOR EITHER SYMPHONIC CHOIR OR TREBLE CHOIR/BASS CHOIR.

I am happy to talk with you one-on-one about your placement. Every choir is going to make great music next year! I look forward to every choir and every rehearsal! Everyone has room to grow as a person, as a singer and as an ensemble member.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Great Quote by Leonard Bernstein

“Image of Chile” Speech, 1963

“If we are really serious about communicating with one another, about knowing ourselves through our neighbors — in short, about peaceful civilization — then we can never overestimate the good that comes from artistic communication. When we touch one another through music, we are touching the heart, the mind, and the spirit, all at once.”

And that is why we sing. That is why choir is so important. That is why choir makes a difference in our lives and the lives of others!

Concert Choir 2022-2023 is announced!

After a wonderful audition evening on Thursday, April 28th, an evening full of great singing and the promise of raising the standard for musicianship for the coming year, I am pleased to announce the new membership for the Tigard High School Concert Choir.

Membership is conditional to students finishing the year strong in this year’s classes and choirs. Students must demonstrate outstanding behavior, outstanding attendance in their daily classes and pass all of their classes. This is an OSAA governed class requiring the very best in sportsmanship, scholarship, personal behavior and attendance. Failure to keep the standard will result in removal from membership in the Concert Choir for next year.

Do not boast about your accomplishment, especially among other choir members who are not moving into Concert Choir for next year.

I look forward to an outstanding year of music making, community building and learning!

Mr. Hawthorne
Choir Director

Congratulations, Choralation!

Choralation placed 3rd in State Chamber Choir competition on Friday, April 29th. Held at Mt. Hood Community College, the Choir sang beautifully with expression, skill and refined technique! After a celebration at Baskin-Robbins for Ice Cream, we returned to Tigard HS. Shortly after, we received the news of the successful day.

Congratulations and a job well done!!!
